It took the uncompromising track dynamics of the hardtop 430 Scuderia and combined them with an open cockpit, allowing drivers to experience the mechanical aggression of the 16M with zero sound dampening between their ears and the exhaust pipes.
 
At the core of the 16M is the high-revving 4.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing 510 hp at 8,500 RPM. Coupled with Ferrari's Superfast II F1 transmission, capable of executing gear shifts in just 60 milliseconds. To maintain chassis stiffness while reducing weight, Ferrari utilized extensive carbon fiber structural components, lightweight titanium suspension springs, and a redesigned exhaust system. In an open-top supercar, the auditory feedback from that high-pitched V8 soundtrack under hard acceleration remains completely unmatched by modern successors.
